Inman Trail

The Inman Trail is a concept that will enhance the Inman community by promoting pedestrian activity along a paved, closed loop pathway. This idea is currently in the process of introduction for approval by local agencies. The trail, when completed, will consist of five links and three spurs, each portion presenting a distinctive character.

On November 28, 2010 Inman City Council approved funds for a land survey of the railroad easement which runs through the central business district. This is an important first step in the design and implementation of the proposed 2.5 mile Inman Trail.

School Link (.75 mile)
This pathway will occupy an abandoned railroad bed linking Asheville Highway to North Main Street. This portion of the trail will pass near three community schools: Inman Elementary, Inman Intermediate, and Mabry Middle School.

North Main Street Link (.5 mile)
This link will pass along the western right-of-way associated with the railroad tracks along Main Street, leading past the historic central business district.

South Main Street Link (.5 mile)
This link will run concurrently with several existing sidewalks, along a few residences and several businesses.

Mill Street Link (.3 mile)
This link will also run concurrently with several existing sidewalks, along residences and businesses. This route will provide access to the Public Library and Post Office.

Asheville Highway Link (.6 mile)
This link will be located along side the most traveled vehicular route through town, a five lane highway.

High School Spur (.75 mile)
This link is anticipated to be funded by a matching grant from the SC Department of Transportation. This spur will connect the loop to Chapman High School.

Inman Mills Park Spur (.5 mile)
This link will connect the trail to the Inman Mills Park and will provide access to recreation facilities, such as baseball fields and tennis courts.

Hi Bridge Spur (.6 mile)
This link will follow the active railroad line to the eastern edge of town and potentially become a portion of the Palmetto Trail.
