Safe school zones, where the speed limit drops, crossing areas are made more evident, and fines for violations increase, are expected in communities nationwide as a means of protecting children. Park areas are other places that deserve similar protection for vulnerable users. Partners for Active Living advocates for and promotes “safe park zones” to protect users and encourage safe driving around these important community play areas. Improving access to parks has been shown to increase usage and promote active living that will improve community health.
