The 14th annual GHS Turkey Day 8K was held Thanksgiving morning in downtown Spartanburg, hosting thousands of runners.
Officials say around 2,000 runners were out for the start of the race which began at the corner of Main and Spring Streets and ended at the Daniel Morgan Statue.
The goal of the run is to get people out and get healthy, according to organizers.
"Get people out, get people active, get people healthy and it gets the community involved, which is what Partners for Active Living, who initiated this race is all about," said Lindsey Graham with Partners for Active Living.
Participants also donated canned food to help feed the needy.
Last year, over 4,800 pounds of canned goods was donated.
A post-race brunch, consisting of quiche, mixed greens, fruit, and a muffin, was available after the race.
Greenville Health System also sponsored the race.
