Trains on the Trail
Thanks to Women Giving for Spartanburg the MBF Rail Trail is now the home to a permanent children's scavenger hunt. Trains on the Trail consists of five bronze sculptures of trains that were seen in Spartanburg in years past. Created by local artist, Richard Conn, the sculptures are hidden at various points down the Mary Black Foundation Trail.
Can you find this sculpture on the MBF Rail Trail?
Start the hunt at the Henry Street trailhead at the kiosk. The brochure contains a children's story written for the sculptures by Patrick Whitfill as well as clues to finding the five trains and short historical information. Brochures are available at the kiosks at both trailheads, and at local businesses along the MBF Rail Trail such as Bike Worx, Billy D's Restaurant, Hodge Carpets, Little River Roasting, and Pine Street YMCA.
Download audio of The Trail and the Trains children story (coming soon!)
