Mary Black Foundation: Advancing Health Equity in Spartanburg

Since the beginning, Mary Black Foundation has supported PAL and worked alongside us to build a healthier, more active Spartanburg. They, along with PAL, believe that health and wellness are basic human rights. In 2020, the Foundation’s Program Directors, Keisha Gray and Natalia Valenzuela Swanson began to create framework that would guide us in achieving their mission to invest in people and communities for improved health, wellness, and success in Spartanburg County. We are honored to be a part of the framework and excited to see how their vision positively impacts our community.

Spartanburg will match NPS grant for Duncan Park improvements, if awarded

Efforts continue to improve Duncan Park by connecting its trails with other trail systems in the city. The National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program and local organization Play. Advocate. Live Well! (PAL) are working to develop a Duncan Park Visioning Plan with community input.
